Story

We wrote this song for our friend, Gary O. Bennett in New York City. He is a filmmaker and wanted to use it in a movie which he wrote and directed, but unfortunately. that film was never released.   Nevertheless we had fun recording it at home in February of 2003 in Marathon, FL.

Lyrics

Swept through eternity, children of destiny
Winds blow and lives change
All thoughts just drift away

Calling

Calling Souls to a Prayer

Black holes of mystery, questioning history
What's real and what's not
Cycles that cannot stop

Calling

Calling Souls to a Prayer

SOLO

Calling

Calling Souls to a prayer

Swept through eternity, children of destiny

Winds blow and dreams change
All thoughts just drift away

Calling

Calling Souls to a Prayer

Calling Souls to a Prayer

Calling Souls to a Prayer

Blue Byou

Story

She always wrote from the heart as with this one written by Diana in 2006.

Lyrics

Every night before I sleep
I hear your voice, it comforts me

Within my prayers, this soul to keep
I call your name, so still and deep

You're in control
You're in control
God's in control

Where are you now, I think I know
I'll look real hard, roll back the stone

I'll search the sky, behind each cloud
Stand by the ocean and cry out loud

You're in control
You're in control
God's in control

The joyous sound of rolling thunder
The feel of raindrops on my skin
I sit in praise and endless wonder
Of this power I feel within

I hold you here, so very close
Whispering my love to the Holy Ghost

Your face is sweet serenity
Always so clear, reminding me

You're in control
You're in control
God's in control

God's in control

Story

I wrote this one for Diana in 2006 when we were on one of our writing sprees.  She in one room and I in the other.  We would love to see each others reaction after playing our new song for one another. Then of course we would sit together and do what we could to improve it.  If I could ever make her cry, I knew I did something right.

Lyrics

For you my love on our wedding day
I offer you more than gold

We'll share a vow I won't betray
And it's with you that I'll grow old

Today's  the day that we'll start out new
A future so  far and so bright

The many dreams we can pursue
As we move into the light

And there will be a great celebration
We'll have those we love there by our side
And you will be my sweet salvation
Forever yours, I'll abide

solo

And there will be a great celebration
We'll have those we love there by our side
And you will be my sweet salvation
Forever yours, I'll abide

For you my love on our wedding day
I offer you more than gold

We'll share a vow I won't betray
And it's with you that I'll grow old

Story

Another great one by Diana which I'm forever grateful to have inspired.  She was such a great songwriter, whether using a guitar or keyboard.  She could always come up with lyrical lines that I had never heard before.

Lyrics

He said if I were rich
then I would give you everything

A big house and a diamond ring
I'd buy the world for you

Then she looked him in the eye
and whispered her reply

Honey that sounds nice
but just your love will do

Your sweet love
means more than money

Your sweet love
is all I want from you

No I would never trade
this great life that we've made

I need nothing else
just your sweet love will do

He said if I could only save a little from my pay
We'd book a cruise or take a plane
somewhere if you wanted to

With a twinkle in her eye
she said I can't swim and I'm scared to fly
But thanks anyway just your love will do

Your sweet love
means more than money

Your sweet love
is all I want from you

No I would never trade
this great life that we've made

I need nothing else
just your sweet love will do

Story

Other than "Wedding Day" this was Diana's favorite song that I have ever written, done in 06'...She came up with the idea for the back-up lines.  She was always enthusiastic and full of great ideas.

Lyrics

No more heroes will remain unsung
And there's a freedom bell that will be rung
It's all just gonna' melt away
On our judgment day

No more fighting just to see who wins   (The day will come when we'll all live in peace)
Or pointing at each others sins   (I see in you, the same I see in me)
No, we'll look at things a different way
On our judgment day

This isn't my home, I,m just passing through
But I'm happy while I'm here cause I'm with you

No more causing one another pain  (Bring me your hurt and let's make it better)
Or praying all won't  end in vain   (For every season there's always a reason)
Cause the cards will fall another way
On our judgment day

A new direction will unfold   (Don't need a map to show me where to go)
There's a higher power to behold  (Drop to my knees, gonna dig deep into my soul)
And the sun will burn the clouds away

On our judgment day
On our judgment day
On our judgment day

Story

Alternate version of song "Calling" for the film that never happened.  Our filmmaker friend, Gary asked her to think outside the box and I guess she was thinking, what box?

Lyrics

Sweeping through eternity
wild children of destiny

Winds are blowin' and lives change
as all thoughts just drift away

But it ain't over till the bag lady sings
Sayin' everybodys' waiting for a long lost king

With a Billy Blue smile
maybe Alien Man

Stormtroopers of God makin' master plans
livin' on the edge with a good dance beat

Party favors in flavors
sour and sweet

Take the outer limits to a far off place
Another generation sayin' what up?

Hear the calling
Hear the calling to a prayer

Black holes of mystery
questioning history

What's real and what's not
cycles that cannot stop

It's here it's there it's everywhere
and if you're open you can hear
the shifting of the mass

You feel as though you're on a quest
You're in the clouds but haven't left
You're spinning high and spinning low
but nothings' meant to last

Hear the calling
Hear the calling to a prayer

Hear the calling
Hear the calling

(guitar solo)

Hear the calling
Hear the calling to a prayer

Sweeping through eternity
wild children of destiny

Just a flash in the pan
where did everybody go
Feel the sun burn
like an inferno

Wonder what'll happen
in this funny little game
Players keep movin'
but the words are the same

See the horizon
of a fresh new world
the eyes of the young
as they jump and whirl

All in all
don't it seem kind of groovy
Watchin' life it's like a movie

Hear the calling
Hear the calling to a prayer

Hear the calling
Hear the calling to a prayer

Calling (Can you hear it)
Calling (Are you listening)
Calling (Don't you want it)
Calling (It's calling you)

To A Prayer

Story

This is my favorite song that Diana ever wrote.  She wrote it after one of our few arguments in 1992 and it's just so sad and beautiful at the same time.  It goes to show how something bad can produce something good.

I Love You Diana....Forever, David

Lyrics

Seems we don't see eye to eye anymore
How we both became so blind, I can't be sure

We're like two ships sailing on two different seas
Determined to search for something more

So I'll leave the porch light on, shining bright
Just like this fire inside my heart tonight

Hoping you'll come back, like you used to do
Your eyes aglow and arms open wide

What did I do, darlin' what did I say
To make you take your love away

How can I make you see
That the woman you love is me

Something's heavy on your mind every day
And these dog gone clouds just won't drift away

Are you thinking about us, how good we once were
Or have you just cast us off to fate

Seems where ever you put walls, you build em' good
Whatever for, I've never understood

Should I keep waiting for you to come around
And treat me the way a lover should

What did I do, what did I say
To make you take your love away

How can I make you see
That the woman you love is me

How can I make you see
That the woman you love is me

Story

This was the first song Diana & I ever wrote together...She wrote the lyrics and I, the music back in 79'.

Lyrics

Talk to me
Don't be afraid to talk to me

Don't walk away
When there's words to say that could set us free

Understand
There's so much more to understand

Just a word or two from me or you
Could break this blame

It makes no sense just to ignore
All of these bad things we've said before

Just talk to me
Don't be afraid to talk to me

Don't walk away
When there's things to say that could set us free

solo

It makes no sense just to ignore
All of these bad things we've said before

Talk to me
Don't be afraid to talk to me

Don't walk away
When there's words to say that could set us free

Understand
There's so much more to understand

Just a word or two from me or you
Could break this blame

Talk to me
Talk to me

Repeat

Story

Diana wrote this one...It's about two ghosts in an old house in Virginia. It was written for her sister Betty Jo and her husband, Sherman Patrick.  The "House in Virginia" is a real place in Stephenson, Va.

Thanks to her brother Wiley keeping all the tapes that we sent him over the years, we were able to salvage  a copy as we had  lost most of our tapes years ago and unfortunately don't even have many of the songs we have written over the years.

Lyrics

There's a house in Virginia just barely standing
With ripped up wallpaper that's just barely hangin' on

It was in the late forties when the room knew the laughter
Of the people whose memories remain there long after they've gone

Now the grandfather clock ticks the time
For the ghost of two lovers who'll dance every night

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Floating like feathers, waltzing on air

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Together forever, waltzing on air
Literally waltzing on air

Once on the mantle where the bricks are now broken
Stood the pictures of families with babies, generations gone by

They all left and they scattered like the pollens of summer
Except for the photo in a gold frame of a groom with his bride

They whisper vows again and again
Within these walls they still dance without end

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Floating like feathers, waltzing on air

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Together forever, waltzing on air
Literally waltzing on air

Now the grandfather clock ticks the time
For the ghost of two lovers who'll dance every night

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Floating like feathers, waltzing on air

They'll be literally waltzing on air
Together forever, waltzing on air

Literally waltzing on air

Rock & Roll days in New York City 1986...our good friend Gary O. Bennett wrote the lyrics and we, the music.  Diana is also singing harmonies.   The song is  primarily about the Kennedy assassination and the chain of events that followed through the turbulent 60's.

Story

Gary O. Bennett wrote these lyrics about a bag lady, which is pretty obvious.  He used the track in a short film which he also wrote and directed.  Diana and I were honored to write the music.

Story

One I wrote for Diana in 99', Grassy Key, FL.   I think this was the fastest song I have ever written..It probably took 15 minutes.

Lyrics

Time goes by like a falling star
There's nothing that we can do

I know that no matter where we are
My times' well spent with you

I can promise to do my best
And I will always be true

You'd best believe I won't second guess
My times' well spent with you

There are roads that I could take
Places I could be

But the best choice I could make
Is having you with me

I told you someday that we'd be fine
When we started out new

And we've been having the perfect time
My times' well spent with you

solo

There are roads that I could take
Places I could see

But the best choice I could make
Is having you with me

Time goes by like a falling star
There's nothing that we can do

I know that no matter where we are
My times' well spent with you

I know that no matter where we are

My times' well spent with you.

Story

Written in 2006 about the angels, of which we believed there are many, that walk among us in human form and are here to assist others along their journey through life.

Lyrics

She rises up to greet the day
Removes all doubt that's in her way
Then she listens for the cries
Another angel in disguise

He hangs around the worst of men
He'll hear his call, I don't know when
But watch the tears fall from his eyes
Another angel in disguise

All they want is grace
For all  they can embrace

So life goes on and dreams come true
From where it came, they never knew
It must have fallen from the skies
Another angel in disguise

All they want is grace
For all  they can embrace

So life goes on and dreams will fade
For each a different price was paid
They say the spirit never dies
Another angel in disguise

Another angel in disguise

Story

I wrote this in Key West in 1993 and Diana always loved it...but the lyrics never applied to anything until now.  It's almost as if it were written for my future (which is now the present) 20 years later.

Lyrics

It hasn't been so very long
Since the one, the one I love has gone

Away, you've left this place
and gone far away

My love has gone

I see the shine upon your face
The times we had, no one can replace

The way, you make me feel
What can I say

MY love has gone

When we meet we'll be so happy again

Our hearts will smile and beat as one

And when we meet we'll fly through the clouds once again

I know we will, yes we will, I know

solo

When we meet we'll be so happy again

Our hearts will smile and beat as one

And when we meet we'll fly through the clouds once again

I know we will, yes we will, I know

It hasn't been so very long
Since the one, the one I love has gone

Away, you've left this place
And gone far away

My love has gone

MY love has gone

MY love has gone

Blue Byou

Story

Written in 1995 Key West.  Yet, another song about life and the afterlife which seems, once again, like it was written for my future in 2013.

Lyrics

We said we're gonna live forever without a doubt
When we were younger

You said let's go see the world while we can
And it took a long time

As one door closes another opens new
It's never ending as long as you walk through

You've changed your hair a thousand ways throughout the years
You always looked great

We've had so many happy days since we've been here
May there be many more

As one door closes another opens new
It's never ending as long as you walk through

Solo

We said we're gonna live forever without a doubt
We were so much younger

As one door closes another opens new
It's never ending as long as you walk through

As one door closes another opens new

Aah ahh

It's never ending
As long as you walk through

Story

This one of course, is the only one here that we did not write.  It was written by two brothers, Santo & Johnny in 1959. I am putting it on the site  because while Diana was by my side for thousands of shows, she also was my biggest fan at home and spent many hours, or should I say years, cheering me on.  This is for her!  I remember us dancing to it after recording it at our trailer in Grassy Key in 2000.  I Love You My Queen!  David
